Coach Kris Knoblauch of the Edmonton Oilers said after the game, “They wanted it more than us in the first period; they were prepared and won a lot of battles.” We didn’t use the puck very frequently. The Kings made no mistakes and were unable to get the puck back.

We then made a little modification. We have only been able to advance pucks into the attacking zone. We extended our time in the offensive zone, created some scoring opportunities, and were a little more direct. There is nothing noteworthy to mention. But I was pretty happy with our boys for the last 45 minutes or so.

The Edmonton Oilers have won four games in a row.

The Kings outshot the Oilers 11-2 and scored two goals in the opening quarter of play. Kevin Fiala gave Stuart Skinner a smackdown during the power play. Then, with a shot, Adriam Kempe was able to create some space on Skinner’s left shoulder.

The Oilers appeared on the scoreboard for the first time at 5:35 in the second quarter. Connor McDavid beat Cam Talbot with a hard-angled shot to score on a power play. Afterwards, McDavid helped Leon Draisaitl with a one-time shot to equalise the score at two in a four-on-four hockey match.

The Edmonton Oilers attempted a power play with 8:43 left in the third, but they were unable to score the game-winning goal.

Both sides scored on two of their first three attempts in the shootout. In the fourth round, Skinner used a glove to save Anze Kopitar. Derek Ryan dashed in and beat Talbot glove side to end it.

Skinner made 26 saves in total.

Skinner said, “I thought there were some big plays in overtime.” How Nugy saved that wrap-around with a glove is just amazing. Given that so many notable plays were included, the group’s tenacity is astounding.

McDavid was playing in his 600th league game.

McDavid said, “It feels like the exact same game every time we’re in this building.” Just give it a wash and start over. Since we are replaying the same game, we are aware that this is a grind. They function well together, and we did an excellent job of persevering, in my opinion. It was evident that our initial meeting was unpleasant, and I think we spoke about playing the game all evening.

On Sunday, the Edmonton Oilers (17-15-1) will play the Anaheim Ducks. The face-off will be covered beginning at 4:30, and the game will begin at 6 p.m. (630 CHED).
