A brighter night for Portugal saw Sporting and Benfica win. Sporting will be optimistic after beating Young Boys 3-1 away. Young Boys’ Filip Ugrinic scored before halftime after Viktor Gyökeres’ penalty and Aurèle Amenda’s own goal. Gonçalo Inácio restored the two-goal lead three minutes after the restart, and Mohamed Ali Camara was sent off late. The young boys had 10 men.
Despite defeating Toulouse 2-1 with two Ángel Di María penalties, Benfica still confronts challenges. After eight minutes, Christian Mawissa’s red card ended the second, and Mikkel Desler annulled the first.
Galatasaray beat Sparta Prague 3-2 in Istanbul with 10 men. After Kerem Demirbay scored the first goal, Ángelo Preciado equalized for Sparta two minutes after halftime.
