The Punjab Kings beat the Gujarat Titans by 200 runs in IPL 2024

At the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, the 17th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) saw the Punjab Kings (PBKS) upset the Gujarat Titans (GT) by three wickets thanks to an unbroken 61 from Shashank Singh.

Shashank scored his best-ever innings of 61 off 29 balls with one ball left, including six boundaries and four sixes, to help Punjab Kings win.

He increased PBKS’s prospects by hitting 43 runs off 22 balls with Ashutosh Sharma (31 off 17).

Captain Shikhar Dhawan attempted to target the cover zone, but played on to an Umesh Yadav ball as Punjab Kings sought a big score.

Then, Afghanistan’s Noor Ahmad, a left-arm wrist spinner (22 off 13), overcame a faltering Jonny Bairstow.

Prabhsimran Singh (35 off 24; 5x4s, 1×6) attempted a heave against Ahmad’s bowling but was caught by Mohit Sharma at third man. PBKS lost wickets regularly. In the ninth over, PBKS was at 64 with three outs.

With his strong grip and limitations, Shashank kept PBKS in the chase.

In twenty-five balls, Shashank scored fifty runs with three over-the-fence smashes and five boundaries.

It was only Shashank’s fireworks that kept Punjab Kings in the game. Because of Ashutosh, he won.

Shubman Gill’s perfect fifty helped the Gujarat Giants score 199/4.

Gill led GT’s innings with the best score of the season, 89 off 48 balls that included six fours and four sixes. B Rahul Tewatia’s 8-ball 23 and Sai Sudharsan’s 19-ball 33 helped him.

In the opening inning, Gill hit spinner Harpreet Brar for six runs, striking him over the head.

GT scored until the third over, when PBKS captain Shikhar Dhawan, playing as Kagiso Rabada (2/44), trapped Wriddhiman Saha at mid-off.

Kane Williamson (26 off 22), who scored boundaries off of Sam Curran and Rabada, kept GT competitive after David Miller’s injury.

Gill took his new friend, Sai Sudharsan, for a run.

When wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma caught Sudharsan attempting an uppercut off a sluggish delivery from Harshal Patel, his 33-run cameo abruptly ended.

After hitting a boundary behind a deep square leg in the sixteenth over, Gill reached fifty from thirty-one balls.

In the 17th over, Gill bowled Harshal over long-on, removing him for a maximum.

Gill was ablaze, but Brar leaped over Rabada and grabbed Vijay Shankar.

Harshal miscalculated the length of his second spell, which allowed Tewatia to score twenty runs in the penultimate over.

Tewatia was excellent; Arshdeep Singh scored two boundaries in the last two balls.
