UPDATE: DFES officers have determined that there is only one cause for the Parkerville fire, which has caused damage to two residences and necessitated a mass evacuation.

DFES Commissioner Darren Klemm said during a press conference that the reason was accidental and most likely came from a tree branch shorting on two older power lines.

A related issue ultimately resulted in the deadly Parkerville fire of 2014, which caused at least $13 million in damage.

Even though Toodyay is still on emergency warning, Mr. Holt told Mr. Burnett that the thorough work of the emergency services has been crucial in preventing more harm or possible danger to life.

What Mr. Holt said about the efforts to contain it was, “They’ve pulled so many resources together throughout the morning; so many aircraft in the air and so many fire trucks on the ground just doing everything they can.”

The CEO of Shire of Toodyay, Suzie Hazelhurst, gave a status report on the Parkerville wildfire and detailed the steps the community and emergency services have taken to contain it.

Ms. Hazelhurst stated that by the afternoon, Chrissy Morrissey from 6PR spoke to the community about the significance of having a fire plan.

“Every year, in the run-up to the bushfire season, we emphasize the importance of being ready, having a plan, and knowing what to do in case of an emergency because, as we’ve seen, circumstances can change drastically,” Hazelhurst said.

A conflict An emergency warning is in effect for the SHIRE OF MUNDARING, which includes sections of HOVEA, PARKERVILLE, and STONEVILLE, as well as the areas bounded by Boyamyne Road, Fringeleaf, Granite Road, Hedges Road, and Flora Road.
