In the opening week of the NBA season, all eyes have been on 19-year-old debutant Victor Wembanyama. On Friday, he did not disappoint, recording his first career double-double as the San Antonio Spurs rallied to defeat the Houston Rockets 126-122 in overtime.
The Frenchman scored the game-tying basket with 20 seconds remaining in regulation and 21 points, 12 rebounds, three blocks, and two thefts overall at the Frost Bank Center.

According to ESPN’s Stats and Information, he is the second Spurs player to record at least 20 points and 10 rebounds in his first two professional games.
Wembanyama, who stands 7-foot-4 and has an 8-foot wingspan, possesses a skill set that has rarely been seen in the NBA.
He showed in the preseason and Wednesday’s debut that his long reach will make him a defensive force in his rookie season.
“I absolutely adore winning,” Wembanyama told ESPN. “It’s what I love most in life, so of course it feels great.”
Spurs Guard in NBA:
The Spurs’ guard, Devin Vassell, praised the No. 1 overall decision in this year’s draft.
“I said this after the first preseason game or scrimmage, but he’s going to make some amazing plays at least once per game, and tonight he probably had three or four,” he said.
“However, that is a testament to him, and as I continue to preach, he makes the game easier for us, and we must do the same for him.”
Dallas defeated Brooklyn 125-120 with 49 points by Luka Doni, including four straight three-pointers in the fourth quarter.
The Golden State Warriors defeated the Sacramento Kings 122-114, with Steph Curry scoring the game-high 41 points.
Nikola Joki’s 21 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists helped the NBA champion Denver Nuggets beat Memphis 108-104.
