Yashasvi Jaiswal, the Indian opener, dominated the first few overs of the match by hitting a hard short mark and scoring 28 runs off of 23 deliveries. But Nandre Burger stopped him at the border.
Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen removed Shubman Gill (10) and Virat Kohli (12), respectively, and Shreyas Iyer sealed the win with a boundary off his lone scoring hit.

With 106 runs from 103 balls, Markram contributed to South Africa being bowled out for 176 before lunch.
Jasprit Bumrah cut Markram to 71 runs after a batter edged the ball and the wicketkeeper failed to make an easy catch above his head. Bumrah received a score of six out of 61 in the end.
