British Prime Minister Theresa May on Friday announced her resignation from Parliament ahead of the 2019 elections. Under Prime Minister Rishi Sunak‘s chairmanship, in May, a 67-year-old governor became the highest-ranking member of the party to resign.
Fourteen years later, in October 2022, the Conservatives expect to lose power.
She has represented Maiden in south-east England since 1997. Theresa May led tough Brexit debates from 2016 to 2019 as Brexit president.

“Therefore, after much thought and careful consideration, I realise that, looking to the future, I will not be able to discharge my functions as an MP in the manner that I think is right and that my electorate wants,” she said.
She served as Cameroon’s interior minister from 2010 to 2016.
On June 23, 2016, the day of Brexit, she resigned and became Prime Minister two months later.
She called for a general election in 2017 to try to break the debate over leaving the EU, but the result was a comment from Parliament.
She resigned in May 2019. Her Conservative Party lost the European elections, and Parliament rejected his proposal.
