The International Cricket Council (ICC) published the complete list of exceptional players who made the short lists for three separate ICC Awards 2023 categories on January 5.
The ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy, the ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, and the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year are the three categories.
Cricket fans worldwide may now vote for their favourite players from the 2023 season in nine different categories, as the international cricket organisation, the ICC Awards, has announced the final list of selections.
The 2023 ICC Cricketer of the Year
Australia and India each have two players vying for the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy, given their respective performances in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Final and the ICC World Test Championship Final.
Pat Cummins, the captain of Australia, has been nominated for the top men’s category after an incredible year in which he demonstrated outstanding leadership and took 59 wickets in both Tests and ODIs.

With nearly 1700 runs and important wickets taken, Travis Head was a major factor in Australia’s victories in both the WTC Final and the ODI World Cup.
It’s possible that Virat Kohli will win the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy three times. In 2023, he accomplished two incredible firsts: he became the first player to record a 50th ODI century by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar, and he won Player of the Tournament in the CWC23.
Known for his versatility, Ravindra Jadeja ends the order with 66 wickets and 613 runs, which makes a big difference in India’s victory.
Shortlists for the Rachel Heyhoe Flint Trophy
The Rachel Heyhoe Flint Trophy shortlist includes Nat Sciver-Brunt, the 2022 ICC Women’s Cricketer of the Year. She remained the star performer in 2023, taking nine wickets and scoring 894 runs. As Sri Lanka’s captain, three-time nominee Chamari Athapaththu demonstrated his leadership qualities by amassing 885 runs in ODIs and T20Is.
While Ashleigh Gardner was praised for her overall skills as the team’s top wicket-taker, all eyes were on Beth Mooney for her incredible run-scoring, which included a memorable showing in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Final.
The shortlist for the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year
Usman Khawaja, who leads the longest format in runs scored with 1210, and Travis Head, who was instrumental in the WTC Final victory over India, are the front-runners for the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year award. Joe Root, who was instrumental in England’s comeback to Test cricket, and top-ranked Test spinner R Ashwin are also eligible for nomination.

What is the process for selecting my favourite players for ICC Awards
To decide who wins in each category, the results of the fan vote and the choices made by the ICC Voting Academy will be merged.
The 2023 ICC Prizes will feature individual honours as well as categories including five ICC Teams of the Year, ICC Umpire of the Year, ICC Men’s and Women’s Associate Cricketers of the Year, and the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award. Later in January 2024, the winners will be announced.
