Tiger Woods launches "Sun Day Red." after Nike flops

Sun Day Red: Tiger Woods has announced the launch of his new sportswear brand with TaylorMade, following his 27-year tenure with Nike.

Thursday’s Genesis Invitational game will see Woods wearing a uniform bearing the ‘Sun Day Red’ trademark. This brand was inspired by his favourite colour scheme from the championship round of competitions. The emblem’s thirteen tiger-patterned stripes represent the 48-year-old’s total number of major championship wins.

At the Los Angeles unveiling, Woods remarked, “This is the right time in my life.” It’s currently going through a change. I am no longer a child. Moving forward, I want to be proud of my brand. That’s me, Sunday Red. Mother [Kultida] was the one who initiated it. I used to wear red when I was a young golfer because my mother told me I was a Capricorn and could win competitions.

“Lo and behold, I attend Stanford University, which is red.” On the last day of every competition, we used to dress in red, and I have done the same in every professional event that I have participated in. It has simply come to represent me.”

After completing his most recent injury rehabilitation, Woods will play in his first competitive match of 2024 at the Riviera Country Club in a competition that benefits his foundation. The former number one player in the world was forced to withdraw from the Masters in the third round following ankle surgery in April of last year. He didn’t compete again until the December Hero World Challenge.

Despite finishing 18th in the Bahamas’ 20-man field, Woods was pleased with his progress and believed it was realistic to participate in one tournament per month this season.
