The government will receive a detailed plan for artificial rain in Delhi on Thursday from specialists at the Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur, even if Delhi’s air quality is getting better.
As long as the Delhi government is given a “severe” air quality rating, scientists from IIT-Kanpur are prepared to offer a full artificial rain strategy.
The scientists had planned for November 20 and 21 for the construction of a replica of IIT Kanpur due to the weather forecast indicating 40% cloud cover over the capital.

Following review of the proposal, the Delhi government would appeal to the Center and the Supreme Court. If the Supreme Court rules in favor of the Delhi government, experts may start the first artificial rain trial on November 20 and 21.
The IIT-Kanpur team recommended at least 40% clouds, according to Environment Minister Gopal Rai.
Scientists informed Rai that “it cannot rain without cloud cover.”
Delhi’s environment minister Gopal Rai, revenue minister Atishi, and other authorities met with IIT Kanpur artificial shower experts on Wednesday.
Artificial rain
Manipulating the atmosphere to produce rain is called “cloud seeding.” Airplanes or helicopters release potassium or silver iodide into clouds.
For cloud seeding, favorable wind patterns and moist clouds are required.
It aims to increase precipitation in some areas or decrease drought in others. This creative approach alters weather patterns to control agriculture, water resources, and the environment.
Older adults, children, and those with pre-existing medical conditions are particularly susceptible. Medical experts claim that breathing the polluted air in Delhi is equivalent to smoking ten cigarettes a day.
