Where is the crowd for the World Cup 2023 opener?

AHMEDABAD: The world’s greatest cricket arena in India’s Ahmedabad wore an abandoned look on Thursday as the ICC World Cup 2023 began during the New Zealand versus England match.

The 2019 finalists began the ODI fight at the world’s largest cricket arena, the second-greatest in history, with a 132,000-person capacity.

Despite cricket’s popularity in India, the first match had almost 100,000 empty seats.

Jonny Bairstow’s first World Cup match against Trent Boult in front of a small gathering left fans confused.

One from X, formerly Twitter: “View those many empty seats. It looks bad on TV. Hosts should always open the toilet. Next day, finalists can play.”

One more said, “Truly a sham that multitude of void seats. Ruins from the ICC and BCCI Simply part with the tickets.”

A third posted: “It’s a genuine disgrace that the initial counterpart for the Cricket World Cup has such countless void seats. Fill it to the rafters.”

The Chepauk Arena in Chennai will likely be packed on Sunday when India begins their Reality Cup campaign against Australia.

In any case, the ICC and BCCI have battled to move tickets for any match that doesn’t highlight India.

The Narendra Modi Arena will host three super competition matches, including the October 14 India-Pakistan encounter and the November 19 final.

The 2021 remodeling of the 132,000-limit scenario allowed the last two IPL finals and a day-night Test between India and Britain.

The Narendra Modi government sought supporters, but netizens claimed, “These photos are looking so monstrous, a totally void arena not long before the main ball”.
