Swansea City beat Cardiff City in the Saturday afternoon match

Swansea City defeated Cardiff City in the encounter that took place on Saturday afternoon. The match was a loss for Cardiff City. One of the teams emerged victorious from the match.

From the start of the game, Nat Phillips of the home team was the target of constant attacks. Multiple crosses and corner kicks found Phillips easily in the opening five minutes.

The hosts continued to create opportunities with set pieces as the last fifteen minutes of the tournament drew near, but Liam Cullen missed the mark twice in as many minutes. The finest chance on goal came from Harry Darling’s header against the crossbar in the first twenty-five minutes.

Shortly after the half-hour, Cullen’s volley from a cross into the city area gave the Swans the lead.

At halftime, Cardiff City added Callum O’Dowda and Rubin Colwill to their lineup.

Five minutes into the half, Perry Ng committed a foul inside the box, earning the Swans a penalty kick. Cullen tried, in vain, to move forward for one more 12-yard run.

A few minutes later, as City attempted to gain momentum and create chances for themselves, Ethan Horvath produced a fantastic save on a headed attempt.

Josh Bowler attempted a cutback pass inside the area, but Carl Rushworth stopped it, and Rubin was unable to block Phillips’ header.

The hosts controlled more of the ball and continued to test as halftime went on, which reduced the Bluebirds’ opportunities. In the minutes that followed, Horvath and Dimitrios Goutas worked effectively together to block and cut away a number of shots and half-chances as the Swans persisted in testing the defence.

With five minutes remaining, Aaron Ramsey, still nursing an injury, whipped in a well-placed free kick into the area, but Nat Phillips could not get his header in goal.

In added time, Jamal Lowe led a counterattack to give the Swans the lead and their second goal of the match, defeating Horvath as City attempted to rally for a late equalizer.
